Meet our customer Clive who had some very special labels printed for a rather unusual and very unique project. We asked him to give some feedback on working with inkREADible on such an exciting, once-in-a-lifetime experience…
How did it all begin?
Why did you want to look at different options for labels?
“It all began during a Motorhome trip to Scotland to do "The North Coast 500 route". Whilst visiting Thurso, I was told by a local about a distillery called Wolfburn that had reopened after 100 years. I visited and found I could purchase a private cask, which not many distilleries will do.
“All the details were discussed, and I purchased a hogshead cask, specially built from previous Oloroso cask staves. On maturation, the bottles would have the "Wolfburn" label attached giving the abv strength, date of distillation, etc. I wanted to have my own specific label also attached, with my own description, and image printed. This included a photo of the end of the cask, which was stencilled with my details on it at the distillery.”
How did you find inkREADible and what made you contact us?
“Finding a label producer was the next challenge. The label needed to complement the distillery label, in size and quality. After a lot of searching, I found inkREADible via Google searches and phoned to confirm if they would produce a small number of bespoke labels. I had a local printer friend design the label and the cask image with my write-up and signature.”
What were your main criteria and how did we fit with your requirements?
“I needed experts who could help me with the decisions on the design of my label. After much discussion with inkREADible and tweaking my design, we talked in detail about the type of fonts and Celtic border I wanted until we had a conclusion, and I was sent a printed sample.”
Were there any challenges along the way that needed to be resolved?
“After the order was placed, I needed the final product delivered with individually numbered labels and my personal signature to confirm authenticity. I can only add that, this once-in-a-lifetime event for myself, was enhanced by my experience of, and attention to detail of inkREADible.”
What has the feedback been like on your new labels?
“I travelled to Thurso to partake in the emptying and bottling of the cask's contents and to attach both the distillery's own labels, and the inkREADible bespoke labels of my personal design. The distillery were very impressed with the design and quality and wanted to know who had produced them; that I think speaks volumes about how impressive the quality and design turned out.”
