Now here is a company we love - Go La La! Not only are the products fabulous but the business is run by two amazing people, John and Laura who are based in Glastonbury, Somerset.
Their backgrounds are in the Arts, IT and the charity sector, but in 2016 they made the leap and decided to become entrepreneurs by launching Go La La.
Their goals were to be creative, make people laugh and earn a living. We can safely say they have been successful in doing just that, especially since one of their products (a soap range named Filthy Gorgeous) has made it to the finals in the novelty category of the GOTY (Gift of the Year Awards) 2020/2021.
We wanted to know more so we asked and here are their words…
Tell us about your soap range
“We make smutty soap; a novelty gift but with a USP that it is actually a very good quality product and our customers love it. Our soap bar is made from 100% natural ingredients, is vegan and not tested on animals, and is manufactured in the UK. It is moisturising and kind to the skin, infused with incredible aromatherapy oils rather than synthetic fragrance and it does not contain parabens or palm oil. This is soap designed to be sniffed and enjoyed!”
How important is the packaging?
Our customers are drawn to the eye-catching design of our packaging which is vibrant and bold, in order to engage and attract attention. Then they immediately enjoy the sensory pleasures of the wonderful aromatherapy fragrances.
How has COVID changed the way you work?
Although we have been a greeting card company for 5 years, it was only during the initial lockdown that we considered gifts, and soap was all over the news. It was a natural response to the emphasis on hand washing and the range now has broad appeal. As soon as we launched it we saw it had legs and although initially intended just as a B2C product it soon really took off with shops too; we’re in independents all over the country as well as a high street chain. We have also worked on a great range of cards on the topic of lockdown.
Why did you chose GOTY Awards?
We chose GOTY because we were familiar with it and well aware of it as being a high-profile award, so it seemed the obvious choice. We felt that our products could hold their own and decided to give it a go; we entered 2 categories, were short-listed in both and have been finalised in one which is the novelty category.
Why did you chose inkREADible and what message does it convey about your brand?
inkREADible Labels with their eco-friendly range of materials represents and communicates our values through the packaging. The paper packaging is made from recycled paper and custom-designed biodegradable stickers made from sugar cane paper (Bagasse), seal the ends. We are primarily a humour company with a love of smut and innuendo, but we also wanted a product that was natural, vegan friendly and eco-friendly with robust ethical credentials – that is why we wanted biodegradable stickers.
